Synopsis:
Cursed into an eternity of slavery by his own brother, Julian of
Macedon has spent centuries in hell, where the only respite he knows is
measured in a handful of weeks whenever he’s summoned through an arcane spell.
With the modern age, those summoning are becoming fewer and fewer, and he lives
in fear of the day when they’ll stop for good.
Grace Alexander doesn’t believe in much of anything. But when
“psychic” girlfriend talks her into performing the spell as a joke on her
birthday, the las thing she ever imagines is it working. But work is does. Now,
she finds an ancient Greek general in her livingroom and trapped in her life
for the next month. Worse, they learn too late that part of the spell means
Grace will...
Review:
I’d love to say
some things about this book. This is the very first of Kenyon’s I’ve read and
guess I quite enjoy her writing so far. It’s funny and easy to understand consider
I am a reader coming from different country using English rarely.
Basically, I love this book. It mesmerized me even I don’t really
like the plot. Julian is a son of a goddess Aphrodite herself, was a great
general of Spartans, has awesome golden skin and bloody hot perfect body women
cannot resist (as well as me. hahaha), but he was out far of my expectation.
Thought I didn’t really get the true dark hunter of him (as the series
entitled). It felt like I’ve read a fantasy-romance rather than a paranormal
romance. Too dramatic, for me. I need more action and more some things
mystical, darker. I just feel a giant hole in my heart growing deeper as I seeked
for something wonderful but didn’t find it at the end. Fortunately, the feeling
between Julian and Grace, their past, and the pain Julian shared while he was
cursed inside and outside that book helped me out from getting bored of this
story. I almost cried of them because it also hurted my feeling. How they loved
each other melted me like chocolate in the middle of the desert in the noon. Especially
when a crazy bastard stalker destroyed her books. Ow, you trully didn’t know
what they mean when you thought they were only books, Fucking Dumbass.
Luckily, the
humor took my attention and often made me laugh and enjoy this one in every
page. This book is recommended for those of you who loves ancient greek gods
and goddesses myth. It talked about them quite enough to satisfy you.
